.... That we left Grady on the roof. It was time for one of the cats to make a visit to the vets. Unfortunately, when said feline spied the cat carrier he took off like a scud missile. We thought we had him cornered in the basement, but he bested us when he ran straight up the chimney. No treats could coax him down, so Grady donned his welder's helmet, to protect him from the soot and the elbow length leather gloves to protect him from the cat. He was no more successful trying to forcibly grab the cat, then we had trying to entice with treats. instead, he just went further up the chimney.
Grady is nothing if not resourceful and decided to climb up on the roof and capture the cat from the other end of the chimney. It was shortly after that that the cat let go of his tenuous hold on the bricks inside the chimney and slowly emerged into the fireplace. Meanwhile Grady is on the roof calling "pssp, pssp, pssp" down the top of the chimney, which in hindsight may have the catalyst to send the feline out the bottom. I didn't have the heart to tell him we'd already secured the cat. I think he eventually gave up and climbed down, but it was nice while it lasted.
I think every street has "That Family", the one that raises eyebrows and much shaking of heads. Pretty sure on our street we're that family.
